Ultrasound
This is mainly used for generating pictures of soft tissues. It can give us a good picture of growths on organs such as the liver and we can even use it take samples such as an ultrasound guided liver biopsy. It is a good diagnostic tool which is easier to use for concious animals, so is vital when an animal is too sick to be sedated. As with x-rays, ultrasounds can be booked in for chronic on going problems or used as an emergency diagnostic tool.
