Pets > Nurse Clinics
This happens monthly until your new arrival is 6 months old. The nurse will worm your pet, weigh him or her and make sure you are happy with their health status. You will be given a chance to ask questions and discuss neutering, microchipping or anything else. The puppy and kitten clinic is a useful tool to get your puppy or kitten used to the practice and to let them realise that when they come in, it's not all bad! We aim to make the meeting as enjoyable as possible and always try to end the consultation on a positive note.
What age does my cat or dog have to be before I can neuter him/her?
Your cat or dog should be at lest 6 months old before he or she is neutered. This is the general age where they are able to reproduce. It is best to spay bitches before their first heat to reduce the probability of mammary tumours in later life and also to reduce the possibility of unwanted pregnancies. Early neutering in male cats and dogs also significantly reduces wandering and fighting. Female cats are formidable breeders, and they should also be spayed before their first season.
Insurance
Insuring your pet is one of the best things you can do for him or her. By doing this, you can ensure that you are covered for the things that we cannot predict. Also, if you take out the cover at our practice, you will get two months free. Have a look on petplan's website for further details.
There are other insurance policies out there such as petinsure so do compare and see which suit you best. Just make sure it is a lifelong policy, which means that your pet's condition would be covered for life and not just for a year.
Diet
By feeding your pet a high quality food, you give them the best start in life. You also have the comfort of knowing that by simply feeding them one complete food, they are getting all the vitamins and nutrients they need to stay healthy. We offer a lifestages diet by Hill's Veterinary Essentials or as an alternative, there's Propac. If the time comes that your pet needs a little more help, we can prescribe prescription diets depending on the condition your pet has been diagnosed with. If you think your pet is unwell or would like some more information on any one of these diets, please do not hesitate to contact us.
