Our Work with Charities

Pets

Brookpark veterinary hospital is affiliated with a good few charities and organisations in an effort to provide services, which may otherwise be unobtainable. We do this by working closely with charities in the local areas of West Cork, and also with our neighbours across the water in the UK.

Rural Animal Welfare Resources (Formaly known as Promoting Anmimal Welfare (PAW))
Brookpark helps PAW run their TNR (trap neuter return) scheme. We take in this charity's feral cat populations and neuter them before they take them back to return them to original area. This is one of the best ways of reducing feral cat colonies and limiting the spread of infectious cat diseases usualy aggravated by fighting.

Dogs Trust
We are currently on the list of veterinary practices that can do dog neuterings under the Dogs Trust Neutering scheme. This scheme works by offereing neutering at a considerably reduced price if you are on certain means tested benefits. For a comprehensive list of the benefits that are eligible for the discount or to see if you are eligible, please contact us here at the surgery.

The Daisy Fund
There is a similar scheme for cats, but it is not nationailsed like the Dogs Trust scheme. The Daisy Fund offers a service that mainly caters for the neutering of feral cats including colonies. If you would like more information or to book your cat in for neutering, please contact us here at the surgery.

West Cork Animal Welfare Group (WCAWG)
Is a registered charity that not only rescues, rehomes and fosters unwanted pets, but the devoted workers there will also treat sick and injured animals before they are rehomed. This is where we come in. If you think you could offer help or a donation to the charity, please click here and see what you can do.
